Commercial Law

We continue our long-standing practice in the area of commercial debt collection, collecting unpaid business debt in the greater New York area.

Our New York collection lawyers have been members of the Commercial Law League of America for over 25 years. We are in all the major law lists for debt collection attorneys and maintain an "av" standing with Martindale-Hubbell.

We assist a wide variety of businesses with the recovery of past due accounts receivable and other outstanding commercial debt. We regularly represent accountants, attorneys, other professionals, and other businesses in the plumbing, construction materials, printing, publishing, freight, health care and credit industries, among others.

Our ordinary debt collection service area includes the five counties within New York City and the nearest suburban counties as follows:

1. New York (Manhattan)
2. Kings (Brooklyn)
3. Queens (Jamaica, Forest Hills, Long Island City, etc.)
4. Bronx
5. Richmond (Staten Island)
6. Nassau
7. Suffolk
8. Westchester
9. Rockland

The zip codes for this territory, in which about ten million people reside, are all those beginning with the following three-digit prefixes: 100, 101, 102, 103, 104, 105, 106, 107, 108, 109, 110, 111, 112, 113, 114, 115, 117, 118, 119.

We will go to other counties on significant matters for clients valued due to the volume of work they provide us.

We promptly acknowledge debt collection matters entrusted to us, we then begin informal collection efforts with a view toward expeditious resolution as well as assessment of whether a lawsuit may lead to recovery.

All fees on debt collection files can usually be kept contingent. Reports are generally made at 60-day intervals, although the initial report after acknowledgment of the claim is usually about 20 business days. All of our debt collection files are personally handled by an experienced New York collection lawyer, from day one to closing, and not merely "supervised" by an attorney "overseeing" a paralegal.

Once judgment is obtained, we stand ready to locate the debtor's assets and prompt satisfaction. Our New York collection lawyers will obtain and enforce local judgments on unpaid accounts, as well as mechanic's liens and entry of out-of-state judgments in both local New York State court and federal courts; will attach bank accounts and garnishee wages; will file liens on real estate and subpoena financial information from debtors and their business associates.
